Basic Skill Levels & Core Goals Overview

WaterTot (Levels 1, 2 and 3)

For students ages 2 & 3. Classes last 30 minutes.


WaterTot 1 Goals

  • Swim 5 feet with face submerged
  • Standing jump w/o assistance
  • Float on back for 3 to 5 seconds
  • Pick up toy from bottom step w/ assistance

WaterTot 2 Goals

  • Swim 15 feet with face submerged
  • Standing jump, return to wall, & climb out w/ assistance
  • Swim 15 feet on back with minimal assistance
  • Pick up toy from 3 to 4 feet of water

WaterTot 3 Goals

  • Swim length of pool with face submerged, taking breaths as needed
  • Swim length of pool on back
  • Rollover to breathe w/o assistance
  • Swim width of pool using underwater pulls w/ kick
  • Pick up 2 toys from 3 to 4 feet of water

Beginner (Levels 1, 2, and 3)

For students ages 4 to 6. Classes last 30 minutes.


Beginner 1 Goals

  • Swim 15 feet with face submerged
  • Standing jump w/o assistance
  • Float on back for 3 to 5 seconds
  • Rollover to breathe w/ minimal assistance
  • Standing jump, return to wall, & climb out w/ minimal assistance
  • Pick up toy from pool floor w/ minimal assistance

Beginner 2 Goals

  • Swim length of pool, rolling over to breath when needed
  • Swim half of pool length on back unassisted
  • Swim width of pool using underwater pulls w/ kick
  • Pick up 2 toys from pool floor

Beginner 3 Goals

  • Swim length of pool performing Catchups Drill
  • Do proper Breaststroke kicks w/ barbell
  • Swim length of pool performing Sweet Spot Drill
  • Tread water for 10 seconds 
  • Pick up 2 toys from pool floor

7up Beginner (Levels 1 and 2)

For students ages 7 and up. Classes last 30 minutes.


7up Beginner 1 Goals

  • Swim width of pool with face submerged
  • Swim width of pool on back w/ minimal assistance
  • Rollover to breath w/o assistance
  • Standing jump, return to wall, & climb out w/ assistance
  • Pick up toy from pool floor w/ minimal assistance

7up Beginner 2 Goals

  • Swim length of pool while practicing Freestyle Arms
  • Swim length of pool on back w/ minimal assistance
  • Practice Sweet Spot Drill w/ assistance
  • Do proper Breaststroke kicks w/ barbell

Strokes (Levels 1 and 2)

For students ages 5 and up. Classes last 30 minutes.


Required Skills

  • Swim length of pool on back w/o assistance 
  • Swim length of pool w/ proper Freestyle Arms & rollover breath

Strokes 1 Goals

  • Basic Freestyle
  • Basic Backstroke
  • Breaststroke w/ minimal assistance
  • Tread water for 1 minute

Strokes 2 Goals

  • Advanced Freestyle, Backstroke, & Breaststroke
  • Butterfly stroke w/ minimal assistance
  • Racing dives & Surface dives
  • Tread water for 3 minutes

Squads (Beginner, Intermediate, & Advanced Lanes)

Non-competitive swim team for students ages 6 and up. Classes last 1 hour.


Required Skills

  • Basic Freestyle & Backstroke
  • Completion of Strokes 1

Squads Goals

  • Advanced Freestyle & Backstroke
  • Basic Breaststroke & Butterfly
  • Racing dives & Surface dives
  • Tread water for up to 5 minutes
  • Flip turns
